Pittsburgh Penguins Parade:Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup - The Pittsburgh Penguins are the Stanley Cup Champions after beating the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 last night.

There will be a big parade in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the upcoming hours but expect it to be a low budget affair.Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl who was hoping for the Penguins to lose said:

“The Steelers’ championship parade cost us roughly $6.5 million in street closures, float rental, security expenditures, and sanitation overtime—not to mention the incalculable loss of man-hours for our struggling local businesses.”

“Pittsburgh can’t afford to forget how the four Super Bowl parades we had in the 1970s were followed by mill closures, layoffs, and a decade-long recession. Let’s go Wings!”

Yellow Man 2009

It’s just too nice and I am too busy to comment yet on Obama's speech today, which I haven’t seen or heard but only briefly read about. And apparently Cheney gave one too. Why? Isn’t he done?

Well, I’ve been pondering a post here in which I complain about what President Obama has NOT done yet, but it is still too early for that, I think. But as Greenwald says in that link, “closing Guantanamo, banning torture tactics, (and) limiting the state secrets privilege” are all at the top of the list.

The war in Iraq needs to end, and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” needs to end. Obama needs to come out more forcefully (and he may have today, I don’t know) against the way it was under Cheney.

It would be nice if he supported gay marriage with some cool Obama enthusiasm. Snap his fingers and jazz up a little number.

But I am underinformed at the moment, and distracted by pleasant realities to argue about it, and the sun is shining on me and my baby. So it goes when summer comes to Chicago.

Video Clip Of The "Beer Bike" In Action In Amsterdam

This is one of the craziest things I've ever seen, the Amsterdam Beer Bike. It's a bike bar (as in bicycle) that serves beer and travels around town with the drinkers biking.

I love how free the Dutch are, I'd love to take a trip on the beer bike myself one day!
